"Out of the blue,
Dive in the blue, dive in the blue with you..."
Lee Taeyong is also known as TY is a well-known Korean pop singer from the K-pop band called NCT & SUPERM under SM entertainment. He has recently started releasing his own compositions on the Soundcloud platform as singles.
His song Blue is a very emotional one, he has mentioned it as a very personally attached song for him to date(Source: His Vlive). The song depicts the no filter emotional transitions of the artist, expressing a state of going through a rough time.
We all have been there, the phase where we struggle. The struggle is inevitable and this song gives a sense of comfort from the music and words.
With his raspy vocals, he spills that:
It's okay now that I am used to this feeling being existent for some time now,
The empty space has the color blue inside and its end is the universe; we go inside that empty space - all these thoughts come to me out of the blue.
If you want I can fill the void feeling, meaning he will support your emotions by taking care of you and says that he won't go too deep inside your heart,
but that he hopes you show him the side of your heart that is aching which you are embarrassed to express.
And you eventually open up about it, he wishes you to open up completely, spilling the whole pot of tea,
while you both dive into the blue together pouring out the longing and loneliness that has been hurting you.
He has been not feeling himself, hiding away from life, and blaming himself for all the wrong things that are happening around him.
He knows it's wrong, yet ends up thinking that way because he needs you, the soul that can destroy his loneliness.
"How do I live now? Where do I live now" refers to his longing for a life called home that is not with him now, and says that this longing day and night is for you, as life goes by, he got lost in these thoughts that he seems to fade away like ashes without actually living it?
At the end of every day, he's exhausted and tired not by the activities of the day but by how life has become empty for him, wishing the brighter days can come again.
Finally, he says that in his dreams he searches for something to fill in the emptiness that he is feeling, and while searching he sees the way to see his reflection in the mirror; which teaches him that he has to love himself just the way he is, so asks you to grab on to him and give him a heart-warming hug, even if you can't understand him,
Because he needs the love and care to come out of the struggle, that keeps him from living his life.
This beautiful piece was written and composed by Lee Taeyong himself, released on April 18th, 2021, shows the emotions of a person feeling empty and lonely in life, who is in an endless search for the feeling of belongingness and comfort from the non-judgmental love and care.
As a fan of the artist, I think the artist had written it for his lovely pet dog ruby who was by his side for almost all of his life who had recently passed away.
Whatever the reason may be, it has given us a beautiful song to lean on~
